Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause rear sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.
SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.
The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.
The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.
These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).
SumoSprings compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.
The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

Hi, everyone, Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at our SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for your rear axle. Now folks, these are a custom fit application, so I wanna make sure you're double checking our fit guide here at etrailer.com. Be sure you're get in the right parts the first time by entering your year, make, and model where it says my vehicle, and any other questions that ask you. I wanna also make you aware that sometimes these videos could be outdated, it could potentially fit newer vehicles than what's listed. Now, getting into it, helper springs are going to upgrade your vehicle's rear suspension for improved driver control and comfort.
So what they can do is keep your vehicle level when you're towing or hauling a heavy load, they help absorb bumps and shocks. They minimize that back and forth sway, and they are what's called a progressive load control mechanism, meaning these springs compress according to the weight of your cargo. So let's say you had a light load, maybe it compresses a little bit, just gives you a soft engagement so to speak, and like a less bumpy ride. But then when you have a heavier load, it's gonna give you a compression of as much as all the way down to 80% to give you that support you need. Now these also work independently side to side.
So if you have an off center load, maybe a camper in the back of the truck or a bunch of concrete or dirt or something on one side, it's gonna compensate for that by compressing individually, and it's gonna help reduce body roll during sharp turns. Now these are made of a nice durable microcellular urethane material. They're workable in ranges from negative 25 Fahrenheit all the way up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. They will resist damage caused by oil, road salt, and UV rays. Now they give you mineral lateral expansion, meaning they compress vertically instead of the sides.
So you're not gonna easily damage these when operating these in the tight spaces under the vehicle. Now these are maintenance free. There's no tubing to run like with the air bags and those kind of things. There's no monitor put inside the cab of the truck. It's a simple one-time installation, no drilling required.
You're gonna get the spacer blocks that are already in there. I kind of pre-installed these. There's a bolt on each top here that goes straight down and it's that simple. And then from there, it's just follow the instructions to get which one's the driver versus the passenger and those kind of things. Now the weight capacity of these at 50% compression is rated at 2,800 pounds capacity. Now one last thing before we go, folks. Just remember these kind of springs and even airbags, they'd never increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. What they do is they are helping hold that load back to your ride height from your stock ride height. So what I tell people to do, and in our install videos, our installers tell people, before you install these, take a measurement maybe with your camper, you know, hooked up in the bed of your truck or on the tail, you know, the bumper of the truck or whatnot. Get a ride high from the ground to the underside of your fender. And then check that once you've installed these and see the difference. And I think you might be impressed with how much it brings you back up to stock height, and that's really what you're going for with these kind of products. Well, that's gonna wrap it up. I'm Steven, thanks for watching. As always, please stay safe while you're towing.
They really improve the cornering, and trailer sag.
If your at all a DIY person you'll have no problem installing these helper springs.
The only reason I don't give them a five star review is that their just installed andvI want to see how they hold up.
Instruction could be a little more deta iled.
Always great customer service and speedy delivery.
SumoSprings easy to install, no issues.
Very easy to install. Will keep my Tundra from squatting too much when I tow.
Added 2” spacers on each side so the Sumosprings touch my frame. Relatively easy to install, but centering on the frame was a challenge as the directions tell you to touch the wire harness bracket. I elected to be slightly off center so the bracket did touch to prevent movement and wire damage. Also, once initial installation is performed, you must remove to tighten, which is not in the directions. Overall, the ride has not changed at all and it helps eliminate the drop from my trailer. Highly recommend!
Very fast delivery. So far so good.
Always the fastest shipping, outstanding customer service and high quality products.
Received very quickly. Exactly what I wanted and ordered. Thank you!!!
Very easy to install and worked well.
Easy to install, so far truck pulls the trailer much better.
Great product, fast shipping!!!!
Good product unfortunately it did not solve my ride issue but not at fault of the helper springs. Just bad engineering by GM. The helper springs were very easy to put on, less than an hour to put both front and rears on.
Easy to follow instructions. Maybe 45 minutes to install using no power tools. Use an 18" long extension on a deep socket allows you to tight U-bolt nuts without removing the wheels. Otherwise plan on removing the wheels to make your life easier. Also the driver side is the tighter space to work in. Do that side first. Passenger side is super easy and a great way to finish the project.
Haven't towed the camper yet to see if it reduced the squat or not.
Installation was pretty straightforward. The addition of this product did make my truck ride a little stiffer, but not rigid by any streatch. Hooked up the trailer today. Two things that I noticed right away; 1. The truck no longer squats with the trailer attached. 2. The annoying tail sway at highway speed has been greatly reduced.
Since putting these on, it has made an incredible difference in the ride and handling, you do not realize how crappy the stock OEM parts are compared to these.
My 2024 Toyota Sequoia handles fantastic and without the SAG and lean
